Post-grad picture

You can't have a Kindergarten graduation with out pictures afterward. Emily absolutely insisted. We are all getting bigger and bigger. The 2008-2009 school year is seven more school days away from being complete. Where did the year go? We will officially have a 4th grader, a 3rd grader and 1st grader and a kid in preschool. Wow-ee!

Kindergarten graduation

Emily had her Kindergarten graduation last week. They did a cute singing program. Emily even had a speaking part and did a fabulous job. Our little Emily is moving on up.

Habu-bear

Here's my 1 1/2 year old making trouble as usual. She thinks she is big enough to sit at the table and have cereal with milk. Inevitably, she pours the milk all over the table and floor and ends up with cereal mush in her hair.
Her new favorite thing to do is climb up onto the chair we keep at the computer nook. Climb onto the countertops, and then pull all of my spices out of the cupboard. We've had a couple of close calls with glass jars.

Easter cousin dresses extravaganza!

So I had what I thought was this brilliant idea to have 5 matching dresses made for the five Matthews girl cousins that all live down here in TX. It was adorably cute, but trying to get five tiny girls to all sit still and be happy for pictures was quite a circus. Oy, vey!

Hadley and Ben's bike helmet

I don't know how, where or why, but Hadley came sauntering into the kitchen the other day with a new fad in head gear. She looked to cute to resist so I had to snap a few pics!

Happy Birthday to Melissa and Malina

Today is my sister-in-law Melissa's birthday and her daughter Malina's birthday. I wanted to wish them a happy happy day. And of course display the presents I made for them!

Mom's b-day presents

My sweet, beautiful and wonderful mother has a birthday on Monday! I'm so thankful for her and all she has done for me. This gift seems like not nearly enough to tell her how much I love her. But I think they are some of my favorite dishcloths to date. I love you momma! I'm so proud of you and I hope you have a fabulous birthday!

no blogging. . .sewing

Here is one of the biggest reasons for my blogging "absence". Every year when I go to get out our Christmas things, I am highly disappointed by our stockings. I tell myself after every Christmas, that I'm going to make stockings for next Christmas, and then I forget until I pull out the Christmas things again. This year I decided that I was going to make two stockings a month, starting at the beginning of the year so that they would be ready. I'm glad I planned to start in January, because I didn't start until the end of March. I had decided not only to make stockings for everyone in our family, but for my single friend and her four kids as well. Their stockings are more pathetic than ours are! So here, without further ado, are Emily's, Julia's and Zachary's stockings. At last my soul has peace!

Future Dentist?

It was hilarious. Hadley was sitting in her chair and Emily walked by her to get something and Hadley just grabbed her and started kissing on her and hugging her. Then she started sticking her finger in her mouth. I wonder if there is dentistry in her future?

Camping chairs

We were outside enjoying the beautiful weather and Emily and Hadley decided to haul out the campig chairs. They were playing so cute together.

Piggy tails!

I was so excited, I have been waiting for this blessed day. On Monday I was finally able to pull Hadley's hair into two piggy tails. She looked adorable!

Knitting Class

These are the result of a three session knitting class that I took at a local yarn store. I am SO happy that I am now able to knit. I've tried for years and just could not figure it out all by myself. I absolutely LOVE these dishcloths. They clean dishes better than anything I have EVER used. I plan on making about a bajillion more!

Natalie's Birthday present

So...other than the fact that these were over a month late, I thought they turned out incredibly cute.

A scarf and a bucket hat

I made these for Emily. They turned out pretty cute, and the bucket hat only took me an hour and a half. The scarf however, tricked me. It looked really easy and so I stayed up trying to get it done. I thought maybe by eleven. . .ha ha! I was up until 12:30. Can I just mention here how very annoyed I am? At about 11:30 my doorbell rang three times very fast, a very desperate ring. I thought for sure someone was in trouble. I ran downstairs only to find no one there. Now I'm pretty sure that it was a few of the kids in the neighborhood who's parents are just uninvolved. I was scared for hours though thinking up all of the possibilities.

Camera Thieves

Yet another episode of Julia stealing my camera without me knowing and taking really silly pictures!

Glazed Cake Donuts

The internet search engine is my friend when it comes to recipes! I find myself craving something but unhappy with the recipe I have for it. I'll type it in and search until I find one that looks good. Sometimes, I'll just go right to Food Network.com (which is definitely my favorite place to find recipes). My other favorites are recipezaar.com, and allrecipes.com. I found my cake donut recipe on Food Network. If you want a copy of your very own, click here

Newest creation

I made these for my wonderful sister-in-law Jenni for her birthday. They were a lot of fun to make, and I think they turned out rather cute. They are dishcloths, and I think they will be fabulous because of their texture. They will probably be the best dish washing apparatus ever! They are made out of a beautiful 100% cotton yarn. I didn't know until I got back into crochetting, but that cheap Red Heart yarn you get at Wal-Mart, is mostly acrylic, and now that I have been spoiled by better yarns I can barely stand to crochet with that other stuff, it hurts my fingers!

Together forever

We were all eating our special treat of homemade cake donuts on Sunday. As we set there laughing and talking, everyone being kind, obedient and polite, it became one of those moments. One of the moments Elder Ballard talked about in conference. One of those blissful moments. A sparkling, shining moment. I just had to snap a picture. It was then that I knew just how glad I was that our family could be together forever!
